WATERFALL Series

Design by Nikolaj Blinkenberg Willadsen

The Waterfall Series started with the VIP-Waterfall which is not – as the name suggests – designed for a Very Important Person. The name simply refers to the flip function. The chair itself is a De Stijl– og Staatlicher Bauhaus-inspired stylization of the classic garden chair with canvas cast on a metal frame equipped with armrests – read more about the Waterfall concept below.

The VIP Concept Story

“VIP” in Danish means “TILT”
The VIP CONCEPT is a series of lounge chairs with matching furniture.
The designer – Nikolaj Blinkenberg Willadsen invented the design based on a formula inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. The unique De Stijl and Staatlicher Bauhaus-inspired shape is suited for persons in very different sizes and shapes and it has a “tilt-function” that is solely based on the human anatomy and gravity.

“Extracting the formula, I continued with a combined design study of traditional sun-beds, the iconic deck chair and the famous LC4 Chaiselounge by Le Corbusier, and finalised with the VIP WATERFALL after testing a series of Prototypes.
VIP WATERFALL is only the first in a series of VIP-chairs in different design lines. It is suited for both as a comfy sun-chair, as a deck-chair or as a reading-chair. The comfortable shape is ideal for a relaxed reading position and when you feel like having your feet up, just place one feet on the side, push and gently tilt backward – the chair automatically tilts back to upright position when you grab the side handles and lean forward.

The design with vertical ribs not only distribute your weight evenly for a nice and comfortable position. Even without the cushion, the ribs also allow for water drops to slide of as the rounded finish breaks the surface tension, keeping the chair instantly dry after rain and small showers”.
